About our Venue

Preserving and Developing a Venue for the Future...

We are a venue at the heart of the local area. We host a programme of events, concerts and shows plus have weekly classes and activities taking place most days. In addition we have an array of rooms all available for hire for anyone. Our aim is to provide a community and arts venue, with something for everyone. Managed by a group of voluntary trustees we employ office staff, caretakers and cleaners to ensure the smooth running of the day to day programme of activities and events.

Regular Activities

We currently have a vast amount of regular acticvities taking place throughout the year. There is something happening most days within the venue. We are always keen to take on and provide further activities and classes. If you see an opening for something that you can provide or wish to make a suggestion, why not get in touch

Building Development

Building projects are based on a number of levels where the trustees take responsibility

  1. Those that can be undertaken by volunteers and our caretaking team e.g. minor decorating

  2. Minor work and purchases that can be funded internally e.g. floor coverings

  3. Projects costing upto £20,000 that can be funded through small grants. e.g. room refurbishment projects

  4. The major capital projects e.g. structural alteration

Completed projects 2015 to 2018

  • Gents toilets refurbishment

  • Window refurbishment as per spec from English Heritage

  • Replacement of auditorium stage curtains

  • Refurbishment of auditorium (to be completed August 2018)

  • Replacement of auditorium seating

  • Resurfacing of Croft Head Terrace car park entrance

  • Renovation of stained glass in Alan Clough Memorial Hall

  • Renovation of Auditorium kitchen

  • Major roof repairs

  • Purchase of new stage lighting equipment

We are continually looking at what can be improved and as a Grade II listed building, it does take huge amounts of upkeep. Nevertheless, we strive to ensure that the venue is in a good state of repair by putting income directly back into the preservation of the building.
