Back in March, Glusburn Institute Community & Arts Centre closed its doors as the country went into lockdown. The stage has remained dark and silent, the curtains closed; live performances will not return to our venue until 2021. There have been no lunches or line dancers, no Brownies or bowls, no table tennis or tai chi, no drama or dance.
We hope to welcome back many of our regular user groups in September, after a 5-month absence, but some cannot or will not return until next year. All this, of course, means that our rental income has been significantly impacted; we need to generate our own income to survive. Right across the country, music venues, arts centres and theatres of all sizes are facing a difficult future. Some will not survive. Some have already fallen.
Your generous support and donations will help us to preserve a Community and Arts venue for the local area, allowing us to continue to provide a wide range of events and activities and to maintain our heritage building for future generations.
Please help us to keep our doors open. Thank you.
