We are seeking a customer-focused people-person who thinks creatively, has great admin skills and a can-do attitude to take on the role of Venue Operations Assistant. This is a brand new role which the right candidate will be able to grow and develop. Working closely with the Centre Manager, they will lead on recruiting and nurturing volunteers, support the day-to-day running of the centre, and assist in the ongoing development of our charitable activities.

Salary: £22,126 pro-rata (actual £5,980, £11.50 per hour)

Job Description
Key duties and purposes:
To lead on volunteer recruitment and ongoing development
To support the Centre Manager in the smooth day to day running of the building and its user groups
To assist in the delivery of events together with the Centre Manager, Trustees and Volunteers
To deputise for the Centre Manager in their absence
Role details, including but not limited to:
Volunteers

Organise the recruitment, training, and ongoing development of volunteers

Provide excellent and appropriate communication, support and information to volunteers, through the development of appropriate policies and procedures

Ensure volunteering best practice is implemented, followed and maintained
-
Keep accurate volunteer records and handle administration associated with volunteers, including producing rotas, in line with GCAC data protection policy and GDPR
-
Promote the benefits and opportunities of volunteering with GCAC, through undertaking appropriate marketing, networking and development
-
Together with the Centre Manager, create new volunteer opportunities
-
Celebrate the work and achievements of the volunteers
Venue Operations

Assist the Centre Manager in the day-to-day operation of the Centre, and to deputise in their absence

Respond to customer enquiries by telephone, email and face-to-face

Attend staff meetings and training sessions as required

Assist with marketing activities

Undertake Front of House duties at events on a rota basis

Occasionally act as Front of House manager at events, after appropriate training

Support the objectives of GCAC as a Community Anchor Organisation

Be aware of community activities, needs and issues in the wider South Craven area

Be an ambassador for the Centre

The pattern of working hours will be agreed with the successful candidate, but it is anticipated that they will normally be worked over three days Monday - Friday

Sound Engineer (Freelance)
We are looking for a dedicated, competent and reliable freelance Sound Engineer with excellent working knowledge of engineering live music, groups, artists and theatre, to join our team on a freelance basis.
Glusburn Community and Arts Centre is a thriving receiving venue, with a varied programme of live music, theatre, comedy and cinema. We have recently invested heavily in new sound and PA equipment, to ensure that visiting artists have the best possible equipment at their disposal, with quality sound for our audiences.
Key responsibilities
-
Assist in rigging and set up of equipment
-
Assist in the get in and get out of events
-
Engineer live groups, artists and bands
-
Liaise with the Venue Technical Manager and Centre Manager as to upcoming show requirements, ensuring rider specifications are met
Experience
-
Considerable experience in live sound mixing
-
Working knowledge of Allen & Heath and Soundcraft digital mixing desks would be beneficial
-
Experience in rigging and set up of large PA/Sound System set ups for live events both indoors and outdoors
Due to the nature of the position, you will be available on evenings and weekends. A typical show day will consist of assisting in the rigging of equipment early afternoon, assisting with the get in, engineering sound checks and the show and then assisting with the get out.
